Testing Facility Goes Digital at Heriot Watt University
A 2MN Losenhausen Testing Facility at Heriot Watt University, School of the Built Environment, is to be refurbished and upgraded by Systems Services. The £100K+ refurbishment will include replacing cooling systems, extensive mechanical repairs and upgrading the hydraulics to permit increased dynamic performance. To permit improved control Systems Services will install a MOOG FCS SmarTEST One digital controller and PC. Once the refurbishment is completed (which will involve the machine being repainted in the University’s corporate colour) Systems Services will also carry out all the necessary re-commissioning, training, safety and calibration checks. Upon completion the facility will enable the School to expand significantly their present large scale test capability in support of their research and development projects for the funding bodies and industry. The picture below shows the machine before work starts.
